Building on a solid foundation we need to shape the future success of
this well respected organisation, developing services that are fit for the
LGBT community in the 21st Century.
Background
Established for 30 years, Colchester Gay Switchboard owns a building,
The Outhouse, in the heart of Colchester. We provide telephone
support 5 evenings per week and run support groups and a safe
cafe/social space for the community.
The small dedicated volunteer Management Team have skills in
business development, finance, IT, fundraising, project management
and training but there are not enough hours in the day to put much of this into practice.
In simplistic terms, your role will be to help take on some of the day to
day management, recruit and train new volunteers, undertake a
needs assessment and help develop a sustainable business plan for the
organisation. Ideally, you will have experience of the LGBT community.
Success for this post will be when CGS has a clear and researched
vision for the future, a business plan, a larger volunteer pool and a
programme of sustainable funding and/or income generation.
The initial contract will be full time in the first year and part time in the
second year. There may be a need for paid staff linked to service
developments or income generation requirements, which would
extend this to full time hours in the second and subsequent years
although there is no guarantee of this. Your aim will be to develop the
organisations ability to deliver sustainable services through a volunteer base.
If you think that you are the person to help the Trustees achieve this goal,
please send a CV with detailed but concise covering letter.
Please read Person Specification and Job Description.
There is no deadline for replies. However, we need to have this post
filled as soon as practicable and we will appoint as soon as the right
candidate is identified. Fast responses are therefore recommended.
